In PA, I found out (after the fact) that a company cannot pay you as an employee (W2) and contractor (1099). It is illegal. I worked for someone who paid me a % of the total I brought in and 1099 for my installs. Later when I moved on I tried to determine my benefits, I was told that if they pay you a dime in W2 - you are an employee. They can’t separate W2 & 1099.
