The way I used to do 1 person street or highway crossings is to work from the house to tap, measuring off enough drop cable to reach the tap. Have a rope with the drop attached on one end and toss the rope with a weight on the other end to the opposite side of the street where the tap is. The cars, trucks ect. can drive over the rope. Climb the pole with the rope in hand. Once the road is clear, pull the slack out of the rope with the drop attached.
