I didn't read this entire thread and I'm sure that someone else has already noted this but I had to weigh in.
If you are pulling a drop across a busy street your company should send you out a helper to either pull or to stop traffic or both.
The company I used to sub for had a guy(QC-disconnect tech) that they would send out in cases like this. Even if your company doesn't have someone, one of your fellow dawgs who is nearby should take a few minutes to come out and help you. I've done this numerous times and was confident that the people I went to help would surely return the favor.
BTW the overhead, back easment, 4 pole over a creek, thru the woods drop is what made my decision to switch to Satellite easy.
