Funny you should mention the linemans school. I was working an aerial area the other day, when a Qwest guy was working the pole next to mine. He came over and we started chatting. Turns out those guys are making around $30hr base with double time for mandatory overtime. Don't have to drive your own vehicle, benifits, and union. To top it al off you don't have to *really* have any more training than you do for cable/VoIP.
Needless to say, I am definitly going to be looking into this...
