Re: contractor or employee: where's the line?

Hey skyclimber,

I think the bottom line is... "the bottom line." If the pay is OK for the 12 installs and you want to keep getting a nice tight route with 12 good jobs a day then go along. Even an employer can request / demand that an employee take overtime work. It usually comes as a choice of taking occasional extra work to make the system flow or more people will be hired and all OT will be eliminated......and ......everyone could end up as part time employees with worse unstated threats.

Or.

If the work is crap in the first place with empty stops & double routed jobs, late or incorrect checks and b...s... backcharges on low original pay THEN you can say you contracted and quoted a price for the 12 original jobs.
You can demand more money for more work. BUT be prepared to leave.

Try a conversation to see where the bottom line is. They can't make you do anything but once you start the process of objecting to anything you are on a list. Be cool & find an option before bailing out.

Good Luck,

Joe
