I wouldn't be too worried with your setup. I'd be watchful, but not worried. If it doesn't break the bank...I'd keep a few extra fibers per node if you didnt already plan to. But it depends on how much you expect your homes passed to increase in the next few years.
Your right on the telephony thing...made sense 5 or 6 years ago (and only a little sense)...but it doesn't pay these days to add it.
Might be better off trying to swing a sales deal with Vonage to install & push their service with your broadband service.
In order to grow...your only looking at more CMTS equipment, and maybe some extra transmitters in the future, to lighten up your homes passed. Of course, this is just a guess...and I dont know your area served, and all those nice stats they put out like growth % and all that.
I always think that good, reliable service, keeps customers...and your competition's bad service will grow you some. Just an opinion from some guy on a message board, though.
