Re: Latest news on Verizon

"But on the flipside...unless you host video games for a living, or some other high bandwidth app out of your house, 20mb is really way too much for almost anybody. Heck...most internet sites and streaming media isn't even capable of streaming that high to you"

And heck.... for all practical purposes Gore's internet didn't even exist 10 years ago. And it has grown in those ten short years from providing content for a 2400 Bps modem to todays gigabit NIC. The current norm of between 1-4 Mbps does not support video very well, cannot be pratically applied for corporate backup routines, and, heck, cannot even stream Yahoo's annoying Macromedia ads without hanging a PC for 15 seconds.

I don't think 20 Mbps is much at all. The technology and industry is still working out of its infancy, and for the world to be really connected much higher than 20 Mbps will have to become the norm. Right now it's just a massive blog. When real data transfer is needed 20 Mbps won't cut it.
