Well Bird Dog, you have just proved everybody on the bar right. You really have no clue.
The fact is that I was an installer not but a few years ago, and I am not so far detached from being one. My company is run by the installer for the installer. We have the highest pay rate in the industry, and at the end of the day my contractors average 60-70K a year after expenses including health insurance. For a start up of about 3K if you have a truck, that's a pretty sound investment by any standards.
I think I know why you are a former installer, the word that comes to mind is HACK! I believe it is time for you to get off the unemployment line, move out of mom's house, and get a new job. We sure don't need people like you in this industry anymore.
The reason it is so crappy right now is because of hacks. Nobody wants to pay a high wage to a cry baby.
I do agree with the statement about watching who you trust. So, maybe you do have a clue, about what I don't know.
