The fact you make more than people in other industrys is really no big deal. Telecom industry salaries average 34% than the national average. Try comparing your salary and what you make to other in the telecom industry. I think you would be suprised where you stand. Working 60 hours week for $1200/wk as a contractor is nothing to brag about in the telecom industry. You tell certain people you do the type of work you do for that kind of money, they will flat out laugh at you.
Thanks to a certain group of people who work hard to kepp salaries up in the telecom industry, even the people at the bottom of the telecom scale, make better than those in other industrys. If you want to be truthful with yourself, find out what people in this industry doing the same type of work as you get compensated. Ask them if they put the hours in that you put in, what will they be compensated.
Take pride in the fact you have a loving family, and a family that lives without wanting. That is something to be proud of. But on the subject of pay, you may want to be careful who you tell that to. Dont forget, anyone can accept a low wage, work alot of hours and take home a decent check. Pride is when you can make that decent check, and still have time to spend with the family, have time to be involved in your community, and be able to take your family to the ER and only have to whip out a $20 co-pay. This is what many others in the telecom industry enjoy. So keep that in mind when youre out here bragging.
