Here is a little tour of FACTS. Back in the 1400's a man by the name of Samuel Rutherford wrote a thesis titled, LexRex. Translated that means, "the law is king." This little pamphlet shook the landed gentry to their knees. His thesis was that NO MAN STANDS ABOVE THE LAW. All men are equal before the law. That was the begining of the end for the "Divine right of Kings" philosophy that so permeated Europe throughout the dark ages.
Now move ahead to the Pilgrims. They were those EVIL Christians you two seem to despise. They left England after having fled England moving to Holland and back, for religious freedom. They also left because of UNIONS. Back then they were called GUILDS, and the Pilgrims children had to find work to support families because of the "Union shops." Does this sound a bit familiar?
Further ahead in history to the signing of the Decleration of Independence. At the time a man by the name of John Locke secularized Samuel Rutherford's work and boiled it down to three basic principals. Life, Liberty, and Property, meaning that a man was entitled to own what he created, IE., pictures, books, homes, etc.. Does all of this sound familiar? Where did those beliefs come from??? The very place you both seem to dislike....the Bible.
Now then, lets look at what those evil christians have brought into this world. Social Welfare was brought about by the preaching of John and Charles Wesley. They preached to the coal miners in Scotland and England and organized their CHRISTIAN followers to feed these folks, provide care for them, and help them with things that the Landed Gentry did not want. Where are the foundations of the Red Cross???? Another Evil CHRISTIAN, Florence Nightangale. She was moved because of her Christian beliefs to provide health care and medical care to the wounded soldiers in battle. How was the EVIL PRACTICE of slavery in this country destroyed? By the tireless work of CHRISTIAN QUAKERS who helped establish the underground railway, and worked risking life and limb to free the slaves.
All of those principals and beliefs came right out of the Bible. !!!! You both are talking out of total ignorance. You have listened to what sounds good and put up your sail and are now floating with the breeze. Let me now contrast what you all think is so wonderful. Abortion, killing more than a million babies a year. Ask any woman who has had a miscarriage. See if she thinks that what she lost was not HER BABY. Still fight the Terry Shiavo thing????? I suppose it is okay if you are tired of taking care of someone to kill them, or in your parlance let them die. That shows a real commitment to the preservation of life. One of you mentioned gay rights.....lets see what that wonderful life style has brought. When a person becomes infected with AIDS, that is pretty much a life sentence. I read the other day that more than 25 percent of the practicing Gay's in San Francisco are HIV positive. Rather than to say.....LISTEN THIS LIFESTYLE WILL KILL YOU....you all seem to be happy with killing more people.
Now you want to blame George Bush. Why don't you both grow up. The very reason this country has acheived it's greatness is because it was founded on BIBLICAL PRINCIPALS....those principals that value EACH AND EVERY HUMAN BEING. I grant you there will always be conflicts but it is better than anything you two can come up with.
