Does anyone know with certainly of a way to beat the non-responder test run on DTV receivers (and thus beat the 10 buck backcharge per receiver with no phone line hooked up)? Many times there is NO WAY to get a phone line into a room. I've heard that if you string a few phone lines together from another room's active phone jack and run the self-test so the receiver responds that there is dial tone, that that may work? Does anyone know for certain it does beat the non-responder test? What about using a dial-tone generator to fool the receiver? Any help is appreciated. We're in a system with lots of big OLD houses where it's hard to even find an AC outlet in the room!
