My dish is on a pole, it has been there for four years, no concrete and as solid as the day I drove it in the ground. I slightly flattened about one foot of one end of the pole (made it football shaped). I drove the pole 1½ feet into the ground. Keep in mind I live in north Alabama. The soil here is red clay which holds a driven pole very well. Actually the wetter the ground the better the soil's hold becomes on the pole.
