4 x 4 are good till they start to warp and bend pressure treated or not they will eventually fail. On pole mounts do this: Take the foot off the mast and attach to the base of the pole mount. I have used concrete with this and not used concret. When I do use concret a split the bag between two jobs. Remeber to pack the dirt with an old ax handle as you back fill.
