The HSP's for DTV are a joke!!!! I have worked for many of them and they all have different standards. The only one standard is the phone line being connected! This is such a joke that not only are we a satelite installer but now are telephone installers also!!! NOw when we run a phoneline to the receiver an then the home owner decides to mess with the phone line for some reason GUESS WHO THEY COME AFTER!!!! The installer. The only reason for the phone connection is for Neilson's ratings and to help out in selling ad space, thats it!! THERE IS NO UPDATING OF THE RECEIVER THROUGH THE PHONE LINE!!!! NONE!!! It is all done through the dish.
I have had some D10's that needed to have a software update and it downloaded the update without being hooked up to a phone line!!!!!! So the only people that will not agree with that works for an HSP's and wants you to think otherwise, that should weed out the HSP people in this bar and let you know who is feeding you a line of sh#$
