This is why you pick a good shop stewart. One who realizes that the techs who don't pull their wait are going to make it hard on the rest. For that matter, the place I worked B&A, would keep the dead weight techs just to be able to say that the whole group needs to straighten out. This is designed to keep us techs in our place.
The argument of the hacks will rule the group if a union is in place is a joke. Sure, it can happen if the workers are too lazy to give a damn about the quality of work their coworkers do. So in closing, the union is only as good as the workers who are a part of it, much like a democratic republic, don't you think?
