You do the math

Three linemen on the road stopped at a cheap motel for the night. The motel cost $25.00 with a $5.00 key deposit.
Each chipped in $10.00. At check out each took $1.00 from the key depost and left the maid a $2.00 tip.
So, each chipped in $10.00, with $1.00 being returned, for a total cost of $9.00 each. Nine times three is 27, plus the 2 dollars for the maid makes 29. What happened to the other dollar?(bash)(confused)
