Well put again redrocker. The broader the reception point the stronger the signal. You can also narrow your signal by raping the braid on the stinger. The main problem is moisture and it's corrosive and conductive nature! Get rid of your pocket knife or worn out or mal-adjusted striper. Buy a new Prep tool and adjust it for the drop work you are doing! If you cut to deep into the center conductor you will also have problems. Remember their is more than one size drop. You may be dealing with quad witch is thicker.
I know the pocket knife sounded low but I've seen plenty of hacks out there and just needed to throw it in. I don't know you and didn't mean any disrespect.
To me not only is it a problem technically but a quality issue as well take the time and do it right. Quality speaks for itself!!!!!
