cbltek1 is correct. Balancing is to be done via the inputs. Interstage and output pads are to be left alone. When the I/S and output pads are changed, the whole geometry of the output changes. That is a bad thing.
Countdown is correct. Splicers do indeed change the I/S and output pads all the time. But just because it is done, does not make it right. It just means that HACKS are doing the work which is what screwed up the levels in the first place to make having to re-pad the I/S and output necessary in the second place.
These amps come stuffed with I/S and output pads for a reason. HACKS don't care so they change them out, not knowing/realizing/caring about the consequences of their actions.
If the first amp is set up correctly, there should be no need to change the I/S or output pad(s) on the rest of the actives. Input pad-e/q are the only needed changes.
