Yes but if they had been changed (pads,interstage and outputs, and midstage eq) there is a way to find out what is suppose to be in the slot if you know what the manfacture wanted. Thats all im saying. Say you got 7.5db hitting the input of an amp on channel 134. HGA. Put a 0 pad in the input slot. In a Hga you put a 0 pad in the interstage and a 10.5 Eq. Get your tilt right in thermal mode. Check your output levels. If you got 50 db on your output pad that leg 2 db since gainmaker should have a gain of 40db on high gain. Check your aux 1 and 2 and pad it accordingly. That should be close enough. Maybe not to the exact 10th of a db but close enough. This is standard stuff. The quality of the cable (as long as you have your levels) should not change this fact.
