Re: Amplifiers Line Extenders.....

Birdman? None of this is to dis the "splicers". I personally am a splicer and certified sweep tech. I also have been doing this since 1976. But everyone make mistakes.
I was not asked anyone to balance "to the tombstone". I know that design engineers and CAD design is not "real world".
If you would undstand what I was trying to say here you would see it as totally logical.

The math is simple like the above post I explained:

EXAMPLE: If you splice in from lets just say a LE that the output level where to spec. 46/35. You come to the next LE to splice and your running actual 25/23 when the tombstone says you should have 22/20.
Just take the "actual reading" 25 dbmv @ 116 and minus your (18 db to the first hybrid) which would give a 7db input pad.
If the tombstone calls for a CS, just add it into the equation. (The CS value is not always correct on the tombstone either) Sometime the splicer or sweep tech has to figure that out.

I'm not trying to force feed anyone here. Just trying to answer the questions accuartely.

This way of balancing will help with problems in the field if the splicer does not overdrive or underdrive the hybrids.

Thats really the point I was trying to make.

If you like the old way of balancing and it works for you? Have at it.(wave)

Try something new, you might like it.....(wave)
