The upgrade and re-build boom of the 90's and early 2000 flooded the trade with unskilled workers. Guy's that were used to making five or six bucks an hour were hired by buddies that taught them enough to be dangerous then all of a sudden they were making over a thou or so a week.
Now that the work is not plentiful theres thousands of guys out there that figure less money is better than no money doing sloppy work that the MSO's figure aint worth paying for. Why should they pay top dollar for inferior product?
My point is, it's all about the money to most of 'em, true craftsmanship is not even secondary.
Before I end, let me say that I know the majority of the guys in the business are professionals and do excellent work, it's just that so many hacks have been in the game for so long that's it's given the trade a bit of a black eye.
