You are right on the money. It seems like every body trained their best friend, neighbor, and brother in law to splice and in turn the new guys each trained five more of their buddys and so on until we have about 200 splicers for every one opening. Three years ago I was getting .30 to .35 cents a ft. as a sub. My last job was piece work that figured in around .12 per ft. on a Comcast job that only wanted three half days a wk. with two hours paper work per day. It's getting tough out there but you still have to eat. I'm hopeing the new guys go back to their $7.00 pr. hr. factory jobs.
