Re: Need info from (real) old timers

I have been in the industry around 20 years and for 5 years was in the upgrade end and prices overall have hit rock bottom. In the early 90's when directional boring toke off everyone was buying new rigs and heading out to where ever the need was and that was everywhere. You could buy a new rig and one major job would pay for it and everything else was profit. I was on a big directional job in 93 and we got $30 @ foot to pull back conduit for the phone company for future use. Today $8 @ foot is good and I know of at least two rigs that sit idle because they want work for those prices. In my opinion I can't see it rebounding and getting any better because the bidding wars for contracts took all of us old timers with the experience right out of the good old days of the real money and this effect has hit not just the upgrade end but the whole CATV industry.
