Re: modem install

All our techs carry a CD with cab files for all Windows O/S. This saves a ton of time as most people don't have their original windows CD. The CD also has drivers for the NICs and other adapters we use most (in case the floppy drive is broken).

If you're doing a USB install, it's generally smooth sailing. If you're installing a NIC, make sure you do a system check with the sub and back it up (ERU) if you have any doubts at all. It takes a bit of extra time, but it will save you buying someone a new computer on that one in a hundred. As soon as you touch it, you bought it (where we work, anyways). Get the sub to turn it on - this has saved my bacon several times. Some people will book an install on a broken computer, and when it does not turn on, blame the installer!

Macs are actually the easiest to install - there's just a few tricks for troubleshooting, far less than PCs. Great once you're used to them.

If you have any more questions, feel free to email me (I'm talking to cableupgrade).

Cheers!(wink)
