This is the last I'll have to say in this pissing match. Mostly because I refuse to have a "battle of minds" with an unarmed person. I worked with Mr. Pickrell on several projects dating back to 1982. And as cliche' as it sounds, he has forgotten more than most of us will ever learn. All of us in this industry have our quirks and eccentricities. It takes a special kind of person to work in the cable biz. We don't all get along. We all have our opinions on whatever subject and will usually stick to our guns--right or wrong--until we are shot down in a blaze of glory. Splicer4life, I don't know you and can't comment on your skills (or lack of...) but as far as your character, the only benchmark I have is what you have written here, now and in the recent past. Splicer, you and I started our relationship here with me posting a bit of rhetoric on what I could see happening. I made sure to base my spoutings on what I was reading and who was writing it. You on the other hand chose to lambaste me without even checking to see if you were talking about the right person. This tells me right off that you are a man that goes off half-cocked, armed without facts and that you are a person that isn't really concerned with the details. Based on this I would probably never hire you for a splicing (or any other detail oriented) job on any of my sites, well, maybe groundhand (I would have to see if you could handle that even though I believe a lineman is only as good as his/her help). Good groundhands are hard to find, bad splicers are a dime a dozen. I guess that I have stooped lower than I would like to even respond to your miswritings but that is my nature and I hope that you respect that in me. I had some respect for you Splicer until you actually responded to my posting, then I found out the worst about you. I said that I know Mr. Pickrell and that is true. In fact I probably know him as well as anyone. He has his quirks. He is eccentric. He has his own beliefs. He is sometimes hard to get along with. He is sometimes wrong but mostly right. Who among us does this not describe? Step up, I would like to meet you. On the other hand, no I wouldn't want to meet you because a cable dawg (or anyone person)that doesn't describe would be boring. In summary: Some rules for life. 1. Don't drink and drive. 2. Don't fire-it-up unless you plan on sharing. 3. Don't mess around with Jim. 4. Put your brain in gear before you engage your mouth. 5. Don't try to describe the ocean if you've never seen it. 6. Put some away because it call end tomorrow. This is a great and profitable business and I wish you all (even you Splicer4life) a very good year.

P.S. I also believe that if anyone is selling their sweep gear, other than to upgrade to a better gear, or to get rid of extra gear, is probably a wanna-be. There is so much work out there for sweep techs that you would have to be unskilled (seriously unskilled) to ever get rid of your gear. It's my opinion, love it or leave it, your choice.

THANKYOU SWEEPTEK AS I DESERVED THAT. HOWEVER ONLY AS TO THE DEGREE OF ME CONSIDERING THE POSSIBILITY OF YOUR NIC BEING A 'SUR-NIC'FOR MARK PICKRELL. ALSO I WISH TO THANKYOU FOR THE STATEMENT ABOUT THE STEALTH METER BIZ. THAT WAS MY POINT EXACTLY AND JUST DIDNT LIKE READING THAT JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE SELLING THEY ARE WANNA-BE'S. ECCENTRIC OR OTHERWISE, THAT WAS WRONG. EVEN THE POINT OF NOT UPGRADING THE METER CAN BE ADDRESSED HOWEVER. WHAT ABOUT GUYS/GALS THAT ARE LEAVING THE BUISNESS OF THEIR OWN CHOICE? MAYBE THEY SPENT THEIR WHOLE CAREER IN CABLE AND MAYBE THEY HAVE ONLY BEEN IN IT FOR A FEW MONTHS. EITHER WAY IT WAS A TOTAL LACK OF RESPECT FOR THE BUISNESS, AS WELL AS THE PEOPLE SELLING FOR WHATEVER REASON, AND I FOR 1 AM SICK AND TIRED OF SEEING ALL OF THESE 'CABLE GODS' CAST A BAD REPUTATION ON MY PROFESSION. I WORK MY ASS OFF SO YOU 'SWEEP TECHS' CAN MAKE YOUR SO CALLED GOOD MONEY, AND TAKE OFFENSE THAT BECAUSE I AM SELLING MY METER I AM NOW CLASSIFIED AS A 'WANNA-BE'.YOUR RIGHT. YOU DONT KNOW ME NOR I YOU. LIKE YOU, I KNOW YOU FROM YOUR MESSAGE'S AND HAVE YET TO SEE YOU SAY ANY DEROGATORY REMARKS TO OR ABOUT ANYONE(EVEN ME). I CAN APPRECIATE AND RESPECT YOU FOR THAT. To Harry Boller... I still have not found out how terry was killed? He is on the [true] big job, with all drive off! We had fun back then,happy earning 3 or 4 hundred a week. now its considered poverty. Remember when we drove up the canyon and terrys car broke down?. What are you doing up in thewind bowl? Do you remember val simone my friend and co lineman? he past away about a year ago from cancer 36 years old lifes to short ya know,Let me know whats going on dan.
