First of all, verify that your former employer has indeed filed for bankruptcy! He could be feeding you a line of s**t. If he has not filed then aggressively pursue in court for the amount owed to you and immediately get a judgement against him. You may then execute that judgement against his assets.

Secondly, if he has filed, verify that he has claimed in bankruptcy the full amount that is owed to you. If the full amount has not been claimed and discharged appropriately you may still have recourse against him.

Finally, if it is in the thousands of dollars that he owes you, then you should have already paid an attorney for an initial consultation. Hopefully you have not waited too long.
