The answer to your original question is to tie about 6 double hitches about 6 inches apart and then tape it all up. You will not need chinese fingers. I have successfully pulled 11,000 feet of fiber and 875 cable this way with a few other techs using a mule. As stated in the other replies remember to have a man pushing at the other end. Even if you are using a mule you always want to push.
