i went in to the service right out of high school. the lieutenant had us grunts reading things out of the manual and studying for the tests. my sergeant, with a scar from shoulder to ear, said" you listen to him and learn those books, and if you wanna know what it REALLY was like...in vietnam we did this...etc..... THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REPLACEMENT FOR SOLID EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD. The phone companies came up with bell system practices to save lives. Associations with minds toward safety and using the experience and abilities of those who have been winning/surviving all these years will be the light at the end of the tunnel! thanks peter!
