Interesting... we're just the opposite. We're sweeping and finding the issues for the night crew to do the invasive repairs. With telephony services, we cant affect the plant in any way that disrupts service. Fortunately our sweep system is non-invasive, and the advanced services can withstand minor tweeks to our actives, and troubleshooting efforts, without impacting service.
Ours is a part rebuilt, part retro plant. We have quite a mix of architectures, from node plus 2(city) to node plus 7 (rural). Not to mention over 3000 standby power supplies.
Yes, it's quite a challenge, especially now that we've recently been charged with the fiber maintenance/repair side of it. My days are full, especially since I'm one of the few qualified to work hub-to-sub issues (hence the handle).
Well...enough of my problems , thank you for your reply, and your offer of advice goes both ways.
