THE WAY IT USED TO WORK AND THE WAY IT STILL OUGHT TO BE WAS A TRUNK MAN/TAPPER. THE TRUNK MAN MADE A COUPLE OF PENNIES PER FOOT OFF HIS TAPPERS AND IN RETURN STAYED WITH IT TILL THE SYSTEM WAS UP WITH PROPER END OF LINES. IF THE NEW GUY KEPT YOU OUT TILL MIDNIGHT TRACEING DOWN PROBLEMS YOU GOT A LITTLE LESS WORK THE NEXT DAY AND GENERALLY MADE TO FEEL BAD ABOUT KEEPING OTHER FOLKS OUT TO TRACE DOWN YOUR PROBLEM. THE BETTER YOU GOT THE BETTER YOUR MONEY. THAT TRUNKER HAD BEST SHOW YOU THE PROPER WAY OF DOING THINGS OR HE LOST OUT SPENDING TIME CORRECTING YOUR ERRORS. HOW MUCH SHOULD YOU MAKE PER FOOT/SPLICE? PIECE RATE GOES BY AMPS/TAPS DC'S SPLITTERS/S/S'S ETC. A GOOD PRICE IS WHATEVER THE TRUNKERS ARE WILLING TO WORK FOR. MYSELF, IF IT DOESN'T MEET MY NEEDS AND EXPENCES ' I GO DO SOMETHING ELSE. I DIDN'T CHOOSE THIS LINE OF WORK TO MAKE CHUMP CHANGE FROM SOME CHUMP. I HAVE OTHER OPTIONS, THANK GOD, AND AT THE MOMENT I'M USIN' 'EM! NOT EVERYBODY HAS THOSE OPTIONS, I UNDERSTAND THAT BUT A MAN CAN'T SELL HIMSELF SHORT EITHER OR YOU'LL END UP MAKING A LIFETIME OF IT! GOOD LUCK WITH THE FUTURE YOU'VE CHOOSEN. IT'S BEEN A GOOD ONE BUT YOU DEFINITELY HAVE TO WORK FOR IT!!!
> Hey Rick why be so mean to the kid?? He is just asking advice. If people treated you like that when you started you may not have stayed in the biz yourself. We should help one another unless they are a HACK!! If the kid is trying to do a good job I say give him all the help and advice he needs. Just my 2 cents.

> > > Greetings all, I'm new to the splicing game. Having read many of the posts here, it seems that there's no shortage of scams being perpetrated against those of us in the biz, esp. newcomers like myself.
