stripping 1/2" cable with tube cutters

I dont have much experience working with hardline, but i have heard it is possible to strip 1/2 hardline with tubecutters and use a T&B K series connector or splice on it. Just out of curiosity was wondering if anyone might shed some light on this. Thanks in advance!!!
