Can you really blame the MSO's for all the problems. No, it not just the MSO's fault, it's everybody in the industry; MSO's, primes, subs, and employees. Everybody needs to do their part. I've seen so much substandard work over the past few years it's pathetic. Think about it, how much would you pay for an upgrade that leaves you system in a condition that is no better or in some cases worse that it was before. These MSO's have spent billions on upgrades and in some cases it was not money well spent. What we need to do is give the MSO's a reason to pay us more. They need to see that they are getting what they pay for. They need to know that when they hire people to do a job that it gets done professionally. That means that the whole system is built right, everything from the fiber to the ground rod. Too many people have taken advantage of the industry, all they see are the dollar signs. Too many corners have been cut and the MSO's are losing customers because of it. I would like to see a certification or licensing program started, so every system that is built is built by certified or licensed contractors or employees. That way the MSO's know they are getting quality work for there money. That way you can weed out that hacks and idiots in the industry. DirecTV and Dish Network are already doing it, why shouldn't the cable industry. Just think if Orius, Mastec, or CCG used only "certified" employees and contractors, it would give them an edge when bidding a contract. Right now any idiot can get a truck and insurance and become a cable contractor.
