Maybe this will help:
Television is what we refer to as regular airwave signals received via antenna on a television set. WHen we speak off cable television we are referring to a broadcast signal through an actual cable hooked up to the television set. Cable Tv is also known as CATV, which stands for community antenna television. Basically, TV channels are piped in through the cable to the set, instead of through open air waves.
> Hi, I am a European student and I am currently working on a project concerning television. I have an American textbook and they constantly talk about television and cable television, but I have a hard time understanding what the difference is. Are CBS ABC CNN cable television or just television. Or is cable television more locally? Can someone help me out couse I'm rather stuck at the moment.
