Re: direct tv & echostar (dish network) merger, sending signals anywhere(rur

I should say I agree with the previous poster no need to jump ship at whatever you currently do if you're good at it there's work in both areas right now and I always considered them the same industry anyway besides as i aluded to in my previous message the money has dwindled here as well and many of us old satellite dogs (or whatever we call ourselves) are running cable. Before 94 it was all Ku band and cable was kicking our ass. There is an ebb and flo in this industry. The time to get into satellite and make a truckload of money is long gone. Unless you want to work for yourselves and market DTV dishes on the side of the road or work for someone else doing that (in which case you will be screwed. indubitably) or work for radioshack (in which case you will be screwed) then your best bet is to stay with what you know. Most cable companies are upgrading to a one gig system and rolling out video on demand as opposed to pay per view so they will remain competitive and more convienient to inner city dwellers.Cable companies just have a problem with their pricing and response time to customer complaints especially if they are the only provider in the area.

Just an observation from the other side of the fence where the grass may appear greener
