Re: direct tv & echostar (dish network) merger, sending signals anywhere(rur

Yep I remmeber primestar it launched in 94' the user could lease the equipment as opposed to buying direc tv equipment which was anywhere from 1500 to 5000 installed back then (same equip runs from free to 100 dollars installed today) I made a truckload of money off of them. I think they were owned by TCI cable?? Eventually direcTV bought them and guys like me went around moving dishes 2 degrees and retrofitting the low noise blockers with dTV equipment. Much like the cable industry the satellite industry pays peanuts compared to 8 years ago. They sell a nice magnetic inclinometer that sits on your feed arm for about 10 bucks but I have found that it is virtually useless for tuning c band dishes. It's mainly a useful tool for Ku band or if you are surveying an area with a lot of trees prior to installing the dish or if you want to know if the dish will peak in an area with a lot of high roof tops.
