Dave,
That's cool. Yeah, we all have paid our dues...some more than others. I can relate and respect many of the old "war stories" from the field.
I remember going to the west coast in the early 1980's. It seemed that everybody (in-house)had a bucket truck...and very few back then did climb. But when the sun went down or a sprinkle of rain fell...no more pole (hook) climbing, outage or not! After my memories of a "baseball bat" or "line-wrench" in hand for beating the "ice & snow" off a pole (so I had some climbing space) at 3am in the morning in New York state...lol, well, I was shocked! Not too many people can relate to that story except those who worked in the NE. An easement pole line (ex: 12 poles/taps) all with P1 feed-thru connectors that was built in the summer, with a winter of about -10f that caused 10 of the taps to have suckouts and of those 10, 8 to be input and output suckouts! Yes, there are things in the NE that many cable folks never experienced. We all have a million stories...lol
Dave, you should make a cable tv "War Room" for old stories and humorous instances throughout the years. Bet you will get a lot of input from the industry.! And it will bring back old memories for all! No matter how upset and stressed this biz can make a person, there is always a "lighter side" that will keep you going. If you don't keep laughing, you will eventully get ulcers and lose it!
By the way, great stuff on 9-11! Keep up the good work!
