you are correct that most modems are made to run out at almost max if system also has telco they are not. most designs for us are to have 10 db return signal from 1 active to reach back to the next one .
>Dav1, whoever you are, you could not be more wrong. Modems are designed to run at their highest level within a couple dB of their max. Systems are designing their reverse to take advantage of this by installing the new reverse conditioners which are in the main trunk and/or feeder lines to take up every last dB of modem level available. Also, systems are designing the reverse legs to have the same losses as the forward.
