SOLVED.

Found that the cog gears on the front housing that rotate and align with the spinning drum ring gear, are not tightened by the hex screw, (1/8th), but rather operate similar to a router (woodworking) collet and tighten down on the shaft.  I found one not fully seated on the problem causing side causing the intermittent issue, letting the cog gear slip on the shaft driven by the worm gear and become out of time with the ring gear, aka the stoppage.

In my bullsh*t opinion, the Apollo is the best lasher GMP has produced. If it were only smaller with the same throat size....(haha).  Yes, I own and run several J's, they are great too.
