Having 44 years in the biz brother I've used them all except for the Apollo which I'm stuck using now. I fully understand how the apollo and ths C/J operate and differ from each other. My quandry is dealing with the apollo to swap from one side of the pole to the other or going past midspan obstacles. The one I'm using will not pay out the lashing wire once the barrel is locked. In order to pay out the wire you have to release the brake which unlocks the barrel and then the barrel spins  counter  clockwise. Now you gotta fight with it to get it locked again because there is no easy way to maneuver the machine with only one handle versus the J that has two handles and the wire pays out when the barrel is locked> I don't know if the Apollo has an issue or I'm expecting to much from it after 40+ years of the J
