The company I use only checks the states/counties applicants have lived previously. They do a 5 yr background check including sex offenders lists and DMV checks. If they have only lived in the state they were born thats all they check and I get results back next day most times.
Have to do it to safeguard your customers against any possible harm or theft first and second safeguard your company and employees. No use in taking chances in this industry even if it is trying to be a nice guy and help out a guy down on his luck. There are other jobs that do not involve placing them in direct contact with customers, who are women with kids at home a lone most time here, and letting them inside roaming their homes freely. I am a guy that would be first to help anyone out that I can to the limits I can. Unfortunately there has to be limits for ex-cons there is no guarantees. I do not consider them all bad just have to cover everyone's ass here.
