Re:Pro & Conns About PTO's

Go electric. the only way for me to go now! self contained, quiet, can move the truck, easy/inexpensive to repair. pays for itself in fuel VERY quickly! (can actually turn the truck off) 1 battery will raise and lower my boom almost 50 times b4 needing recharged.(the truck motor recharges it). i'm sold!!!

>PTO ARE PART OF THE TRANSMISSION,YOU ENGAGE THE THE PTO BY PUTTING THE TRANNY IN NEUTRAL THEN BY SOME SORT OF A SWITCH OR KNOB YOU PUT THE PTO IN GEAR. ON SOME OF THE OLDER MODELS YOU COULDN'T RUN THE PTO AND DRIVE AT THE SAME TIME.THIS BECOME A PROBLEM SO MANUFACTURES STARTED MOUNTING BELT DRIVEN HYDRAULIC PUMPS TO ISOLATE THE SYSTEM FROM THE VEHICLES DRIVE TRAIN,THEN THEY CAME OUT WITH SYNCRNOUS DRIVES FOR PTO'S. HOPE THIS HELPED.
