PTO ARE PART OF THE TRANSMISSION,YOU ENGAGE THE THE PTO BY PUTTING THE TRANNY IN NEUTRAL THEN BY SOME SORT OF A SWITCH OR KNOB YOU PUT THE PTO IN GEAR. ON SOME OF THE OLDER MODELS YOU COULDN'T RUN THE PTO AND DRIVE AT THE SAME TIME.THIS BECOME A PROBLEM SO MANUFACTURES STARTED MOUNTING BELT DRIVEN HYDRAULIC PUMPS TO ISOLATE THE SYSTEM FROM THE VEHICLES DRIVE TRAIN,THEN THEY CAME OUT WITH SYNCRNOUS DRIVES FOR PTO'S. HOPE THIS HELPED.
>I'm looking at buying a bucket truck for splicing, and would like to know the pro's and conn's about PTO's. And does it mean power transmission overide. Thank you for youy help cabl bar.
