At the end of 2019 the top broadband provides "Combined" accounted for 100 million subscribers...MSO had 68 Million and TelCo had 32 Million. Cable accounted for 67% market share and TelCo 33%.
Now that may sound like great news...However (and there is always a however in this Trade). Cable has been around for some 72 yrs while telco in broadband..maybe 25 yrs. Cable MSO should be doing one hell of a job keeping subscribers seeing how they have 3 times the experience in dealing with end users. The problem I see is that MSO top dogs are not thinking outside the box. They are more interested in the bottom line P/L statements, it they don't go all fiber....they won't have any P/L to worry about. They need to think about what the end user wants out of the services they provide. MSO's... like any good company management/ownership needs to look into their broadband visionary crystal ball and give the customer/end user the latest/greatest/bells and whistle gizmo's that high tech artificial intelligence can offer. Microman just saying here: Will MSO's see 100 yrs of service using lashed up coax-copper-fiber.....I think Not....
