I was going through some old papers, found a bid I did for a "Fiber to the home project"...back in 2004, one of the first fiber to home projects in nation. Suprising thing, the rates have not changed much since 2004. Now thats's a sad fact of this industry, end user rates keep going up and up while the damn guys/gals out in field making it all happen...keeps going down down down or your just stuck with the same old rates from years ago. Your problem here is that companies like Mastec/Dycom buying up all independent prime contractors...they set the rates, you are stuck with being a sub to their companies. Sure you might pick up a small prime contract here and there, but the big..Long Term projects go to these mega multi company owned outfits.
Good Luck but if your experienced in your trade....go to those who pay you... what you deserve
