Bye Bye Unit Pay Method

It ain't going any where, you will be seeing this industry change from unit pay to hourly pay...as in house employee's.   The unit pay method has too many legal problems as with IRS looking over your shoulder for the Contractor.   Back when I started in 60's..it was all hourly pay, then around mid 70's contractor started the unit pay.  It was great for the Contractor...no work-no pay vs paying by the hour and getting minimal production.  This industry NOw has to much competition because of Fiber/InterNet/Google/Phone/Municipalities/facebook...all wanted a hot line or wireless feed to the home.  So as a contractor you now must have up to date working equipment, it has to look good, have all safety features...then pay the workers by the hour.  The only thing missing out of this method of operation is "The Hourly Pay Scale" for the worker.  There is nothing wrong with hourly..just give the Foreman, Splicer, Tech a bonus for busting his/her ass in getting excess production done in a timely, safe manner.  The Cable Industry will be either merging/selling/joint venuturing,  in order to be competitive with today's demand for "Give it to me now" Infotainment !!   Keep Safe No matter how your paid:  MicroMan
