The only thing copper is good for today....is the So Called Last Mile and that will also go away once TelCo's find out it won't work either. I've seen old lead cable still hanging on poles not being used except the phone companies keep writing it off.
Once back in 1966 I had a job in Dunn NC where we overlashed Coax to the local copperl phone companies system. Then had to teach their tech's how to splice coax/read print/balance and proof. Then years later Feds said No Tel Co could own cable system. I'm guessing it was one day wrecked out.
Copper is dead, it's not being maintained, it's only good for holding up poles and has cost some to loose their jobs
Just saying: it's fiber all the way until Wireless becomes Kind: MicroMan
