I was in the union 32yrs working for GTE and Verizon. What i apreciate now is there are a lot of you wanting to stay away from strikes.
What ever the reason.
Scabs always will be there. When you are starving you do what you have to do. Just remember if the union gets what they want most of the time everyone has benifited from their endevor.
It may not always be right but they took the chance to make changes. When you look at a lot of contracting companies they are underpaying their employess, and passing on your carrying your own insurance, liability and so on out of your own pockets. The cost of your equipment, and truck just sucks. You will not see it getting any better i am afraid. I was contracting for the last 10 yrs, ran into a few dishonest people and worked for some good companies. I am thinking about retirement. Good luck to all of you.
