The article doesn't support that statement. The reason given for the invasion of Iraq was an on going secret weapons program, what was found was a stockpile of old weapons. As much as Saddam was a pain in the ass, he was a stabilizing force in the area that had also had issues with the militant organizations. We had intel provided by Kamel Hussein, the architect of the WMD programs, that the weapons program had been dismantled long before the invasion. Personally I think our focus should have been on Iran as they had a history of ties to terrorists.
