In our "free market" energy producers are free to take their product to energy-hungry countries like China that will pay more. Subsidies, like our foreign "aid", are always quid pro quo. We need the energy here, duh.Your "free market" is an illusion anyway. Energy production usually entails environmental disruption through drilling or in some cases, removal of entire moutaintops. Thousands of Americans put their lives and health at risk miles underground or out at sea on oil platforms, then when no longer useful are left to caregivers and the rest of society to deal with. Fuel must be transported through areas where people live, with all the inconvenience and hazards that brings. It has to be stored/refined around where people live. It produces polution that affects every U.S. citizen alive now and in the next century or two. Yes I damn well deserve a say about that. Fuck you and your Koch-sucking "free market" bullshit.
