Good point.  I know exactly where you are headed. Also, are you shooting at multiple wavelengths? Is there  difference between wavelengths? There are a lot of possibilities.  Being able to see a  couple of traces would help.
If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. Quit being part of the problem!
